Welcome to the wiki for the Victoria Regional Riding Association. This wiki was created because members of the executive team felt that there was missing knowledge between previous iterations of Victoria Regional Riding Association's, and we wanted a place where we could share and collaborate on building a collective knowledge base.
Welcome!
This wiki is a community project run entirely by volunteers to provide information about organising for the BC Greens Victoria Regional Riding Association.

However, this wiki is currently just a test. If it does not accomplish our goal of sharing knowledge and organising for the BC Greens (and accomplishing the goals described in the Victoria RRA Agreement) then we will stop using it. Because this wiki is a test, don't be afraid to edit pages, provide feedback in our communication channels, and ask questions. We are all learning together!

Advice for editors
A wiki is a form of publication on the internet which is collaboratively edited and managed by its audience directly through a web browser. Anyone can contribute to this wiki by using the edit button to change each pages content.

This wiki is powered using MediaWiki. MediaWiki is a software that is used by tens of thousands of websites and thousands of organisations including Wikipedia. MediaWiki is free, open, and time tested. It is an alternative to privately owned software from companies like Google or Microsoft, and therefore more aligned with the values of the Green Party of BC and it's campaign to "Fight the Oligarchs".
Don't be afraid
Clicking the 'Edit' button on a wiki article can be intimidating. You may feel like you do not have the best knowledge or expertise to edit a article or you may feel scared about making a mistake. This is normal! This wiki is edited by volunteers and we are all learning, making mistakes, and growing together. Mistakes can be fixed, articles can be deleted or moved, and lost information can be retrieved. If you are still unsure about making an edit, do it anyways!

The Victoria RRA Agreement outlines a number of goals that we aim to pursue over the coming year. Below is a table that outlines these goals and describes how a wiki might help in the pursuit of some of these goals.

Searching
For advanced information on creating articles, see the MediaWiki 'Help' article.
The quickest way to find information in this wiki is to look it up directly. On every page there is a search box.

Enter keywords and phrases and press Enter or Return or click the magnifying glass icon. If a page has the same title as what you entered, you jump straight to that page. Otherwise, it searches all pages on the wiki (with some restrictions), and presents a list of articles that matched your search terms, or a message informing you that no page has all the key words and phrases.
Improve an article
Improving an existing article is a great way to learn about editing while helping the wiki. If you see that an article that needs improvement don't ask "why is nobody is making these edits?", you are the nobody.

Navigation
* Pick an article that covers a topic you know about or are interested in.
Every page on this site not only has information to show you but also allows you to move to other pages. This is called "navigation". To help you navigate, every page has three main navigation elements:
* Check the Recent changes list to see what other articles volunteers are working
* Correct spelling and grammar in an article
* Add your experiences and knowledge about organising to help other volunteers
* If an article makes unsourced factual statements that don't seem like common knowledge, look for a source and add it.

# The sidebar gives you access to important pages in the wiki such as recent changes or upload file. This site requires you to log in before seeing all of the sidebar options, however sign in is not required.
Style guide
# Tabs which relate to the page currently displayed: its associated discussion page (we are currently not using the discussion pages), the version history, and – most notably – the edit link.
# User links; as an anonymous user, you'll see a link to create an account or log in. As a logged-in user you have a collection of personal links, including ones to your user page and preferences.

Editing this wiki
* See the wiki's Style guide for advice on how to layout an article, use shared grammar, reference articles, and more.
When you edit a page on this wiki, the changes that you save will appear for everyone who uses the wiki. But, don't be afraid to edit! Pages can easily be reverted to previous versions, and mistakes can be fixed by other users.

To edit, simply navigate to the page that you wish to edit and click the 'edit" button which is found in the top right. Then, edit the content as needed. Once you are done, click "Save page" in the top right. The changes will appear for everyone who uses the wiki.

You currently do not need an account to use this wiki or edit it's pages.

Advice for editors

Don't be afraid

Clicking the 'Edit' button on a wiki article can be intimidating. You may feel like you do not have the best knowledge or expertise to edit a article or you may feel scared about making a mistake. This is normal! This wiki is edited by volunteers and we are all learning, making mistakes, and growing together. Mistakes can be fixed, articles can be deleted or moved, and lost information can be retrieved. If you are still unsure about making an edit, do it anyways!

Create an article

If you want to create a article that doesn't exist you can use the

<inputbox> type  = create width = 30px    break = no placeholder = Page title useve=true </inputbox>

For advanced information on creating articles, see the MediaWiki 'Help' article.

Improve an article

Improving an existing article is a great way to learn about editing while helping the wiki. If you see that an article that needs improvement don't ask "why is nobody is making these edits?", you are the nobody.

 • Pick an article that covers a topic you know about or are interested in.
 • Check the Recent changes list to see what other articles volunteers are working
 • Correct spelling and grammar in an article
 • Add your experiences and knowledge about organising to help other volunteers
 • If an article makes unsourced factual statements that don't seem like common knowledge, look for a source and add it.

Style guide

 • See the wiki's Style guide for advice on how to layout an article, use shared grammar, reference articles, and more.

To-do list

 • Check the wiki's General to-do list if you want to help contribute to the wiki but are unsure with how to help.
